BOMB THREAT

1. PURPOSE

1.1 In the interest of the department member’s health and safety, this document is established to provide guidelines maintaining a safe work environment during a bomb threat (Signal 300).

2. REFERENCES

2.1 Union Fire District Board of Wardens policy.

3. OSHA REQUIREMENTS

3.1 The department shall maintain a safe working environment during the occurrence of a Signal 300, Bomb Threat.

4. PROCEDURE

4.1 The UFD shall respond with a full assignment of vehicles and personnel.

4.2 Police are in charge of the scene, fire department incident commander must report to the officer in charge.

4.3 The IC shall establish a staging area a safe distance from the area of the bomb threat. The staging area shall be at the nearest UFD station if possible. Any personnel responding in their POV must respond to staging.

4.4 Radio communication shall be kept to a minimum.

4.5 All radio communication shall be done on channel 5 or channel 6.

4.6 The IC or an assistant shall be located with the police officer in charge of the operation.

4.7 Operations will terminate when the police give the all clear call.
