1. PURPOSE

1.1 In the interest of the department member’s health and safety, this document is established to provide guidelines maintaining a safe work environment.

2. REFERENCES

2.1 Union Fire District Board of Wardens Policy.

3. OSHA REQUIREMENTS

3.1 The department shall maintain proper safety precautions in accordance with OSHA regulations.

4. PROCEDURE

4.1 Individual Station Response dispatched for a signal 100 will be used in the following types of emergency or fire:

4.2 When a call is received for any one of the above, the dispatcher will insert the address into the Fire Department Computer and dispatch the appropriate station listed for S/100.

4.3 When, in the dispatcher’s opinion, a reasonable length of time (4 minutes) has elapsed with no response from the station called, then a general broadcast to the area stations listed on the first alarm assignment will be given.

EXCEPTION: If any one of the above is endangering life or property then a first alarm assignment will be dispatched.

Emergency Lighting Units:

  1. 4.5.1  If lighting is needed at a scene within the Union Fire District, then the Duty Chief and the station listed under S/100 for that street will be dispatched.
  2. 4.5.2  If lighting is needed in the Kingston Fire District, then Station 4 will be notified.
